Cannabis
Cannabis is by far the most abused illicit substance in France.
A report by the OFDT on cannabis (**) indicates that France "is among the most consumer countries in Europe both among young adults and adolescents: France is the only country with a much higher level of use. 15% for 16 year olds!
In 2014, 47.8% of 17-year-olds reported having smoked cannabis in their lifetime, up from 41.5% in 2011. [*]
Even among adults, consumption is on the rise: among all 18-64 year olds, cannabis experiment went from 33% to 42% between 2010 and 2014!

Cocaine
The consumption of cocaine increases, and "penetrates" from now on different environments. Cocaine dealers today "borrow" the "broadcast networks" of hashish. Thus, cocaine is more widely distributed among young people.
Cocaine is, after Cannabis, the most abused illicit product in France: in 2014, its experiment concerns 5.6% of 18-64 year olds [*].Cocaine can "snort" or smoke. This last mode of administration is more "effective" (bringing more sensations), but also more harmful.
This drug quickly causes a very strong psychological dependence, with risks of physical complications: cardiac, neurological (stroke, convulsions, ...), or even pulmonary (for crack users).
